I have just received nearly the same email but from a different person named Richard Morris, email richardmorris00000@gmail.com but claiming to be from Stores Central
ReplyDeletemoriss richard is still at it! Note Moriss is now spelt differently. This time the person was trying to elicit goods from an on-line store - "email me with the total cost of my order only don't worry about the shipping cost because i've personal shipping agent that will come for the pick up in your store,I've informed them about this they told me the best way to pick up in your store is for you to email me with your store address and the time package will be ready for pick up with your convenience time and date, please kindly get back to me with this details along with the total of my order. so i can give you my card details"
ReplyDeleteI had the same e-mail:
ReplyDeleteHere is my Shipping Address below

I have just received this and as Richard Moriss??? himself advises ... I am treating with 'good concern'.
ReplyDeletetested
Good day, I want to place an order in your store, and I will like to know if you ship to CYPRUS and my payment will be remitted via Visa / Master card.So please let me know if you can assist me with the order, and please do not forget to include your website in your reply.Your quick response will be highly appreciated,I will be very glad if you treat this email with good concern.
Richard Moris
Thank you.
Our company based in London has also just received this email.... Knew it was dodgy from the beginning with the weird email address and reluctance to give me the name of the 'shippers' and billing address!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the total quote of my order. The total cost of my order is quite correct and okay by me and I'm ready to pay the bills . Also want you to help me Charge another £850 to a shipping agent who is going to pick up my ordered items from you.
The £850 that will be sent to the shipping agent is for the shipping of my order plus other items i ordered from different countries which will be deduct from my credit card. Also, I'm compensating you with the sum of £100 for the transfer fee and for your efforts. Please note that i should have given the shipping agency my credit card for him to deduct the shipping funds but he told me that he doesn't have the facilities to charge or debit credit card , so that's why i bring my vote of confidence in you and i don't want you to betray the vote of confidence i put in you, so i want you to transfer the funds to him after you have make the charges and the money charged from my credit card is in your account, then you can now make the transfer to the agent via western union.i will have love to do this my self but there no western union here around me,So the charges you'll make on my credit card will be:
Order Fee (£2,324)
Agent fee with shipping fare (£850)
Transfer Fee plus Your Compensation (£100)
Total:(£3274)
Note that my credit card will be charged for the amounts above . Please do get back to me if you are in the office right now so that i can forward my credit card details to you , then you can charge full amount and transfer the agent funds to him via western union.
Best Regards,
Richard Moriss.
we too just received from same sender - so cut and paste some of the above and pressed return,
ReplyDeletedon't think I 'll hear back!
thank you
Yes we have had the same email as above from Richard Morriss.
ReplyDeleteHis email address is: richardmoriss00000@gmail.com
Glad we found this blog saved, the company time and money.
we have just received email from richard moriss, what drew me to it was the quantity of each item requested and that they would arrange collection.
ReplyDeleteI received the same email. In fact, I have been talking with "RICHARD" for about a week. What is the point of his scam? Does anybody know? I have no intention of giving out any information about my store, but I don't understand the point. Any Help?
ReplyDeleteMichael,
ReplyDeleteThe scam works like this: they will insist on using their own shipping company (which actually doesn't exist) and then send you MORE than what is owed, telling you to send the difference on to the shipper to pay them. The scammer's check is fraudulent so the only real money is yours when you send the difference to the "shipping company" which is actually just the scammers at the other end of Western Union, where it can't be traced once it is picked up.
they also run this same scam claiming to pay with a credit card, which will often clear because it has not yet been reported stolen, but will always result in a chargeback (and then again, the only money lost is yours of that forwarded "difference").
Good for you for not falling victim to any of this!
We also received an email from him this morning. Sounded liked a scam from the minute I read it. Stupid man!!!
ReplyDeleteThey are still at it.. Thanks for keeping this info on line..
ReplyDeleteGood day, I want to place an order in your store, and I will like to know if you ship to CYPRUS and my payment will be remitted via Visa / Master card.So please let me know if you can assist me with the order, and please do not forget to include your website in your reply.Your quick response will be highly appreciated,I will be very glad if you treat this email with good concern.
Richard Moriss
Thank you.
Thanks for sharing this. I love that the scammer is now asking the victim to be sure and include their website in the reply - that's funny. Scammers send out so many of these emails that the only way for them to then list actual titles of things to "buy" in the second email would be to somehow figure out the victim's website, so here they just ask for it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, "I will be very glad if you treat this email with good concern" is a pretty odd phrase.
Have recently received an email from the said Richard Moriss (same wording as most of the above) - wasted some amount of time on getting a quote together, but have just read all of these comments. Thank goodness we read this before proceeding further!!!
ReplyDeleteRichard moriss [mailto:richardmoriss00000@gmail.com] is still at it.

This is obviously a scam and does not require ANY response at all. It is not for real. There is no shipping company and the credit card will turn out to be a stolen number not yet reported and so will result in a chargeback to you. The address is fake as well.
ReplyDeleteThey have sent this email to millions of people, and the personalization is just a template and they slip in things they grab from websites. How do they grab so the info for so many emails? All automated with software.
Don't reply at all. Delete it and put it out of your mind.
Thanks for the advice
ReplyDeleteThis is the latest email I have just received from "Richard Moriss"
ReplyDeleteHello Andy
I could have sent them the payment by myself but i am currently out of town to a remote village to monitor my new construction and there are no western union point on site to send the funds to them and also western union does go through online in our location.I have enjoy their efficient service in the past and that is why i have decided that they should take care of the pick up and shipment of all my order.I wish to inform you that if my freight forwarder had agreed to accept payment by money order or check then i could have sent it to them but they have informed me that due to high demand for their
service at this season they have decided to accept payment by cash before making arrangement for the pick up of any order and their service will be done in this season in a mode that who pays first enjoy their service first. This is why i requested for your assistance in paying for the shipment of all my packages that is to be picked up by them through money transfer.the £750 shipping agent fees is for the shipping of my order plus other items i ordered from different countries such items likes generator, welding machine etc in japan and co.
I will be glad if you can help me make payment to them by transferring the funds via western union money transfer so that they can make arrangement for the pick up of all my orders immediately they received the funds. So the charges you'll make on my credit card will be:
Order Fee (£608)
Agent fee with shipping fare (£750)
Transfer Fee plus Your Compensation (£100)
Total:(£1458)
Note that my credit card will be charged for the amounts above . Please do get back to me if you are in the office right now so that i can forward my credit card details to you , then you can charge full amount and transfer the agent funds to him via western union.
Once again, thanks for the assistance and we hope to do more business with your company in future.

Oh, that's priceless: "i don't want you to betray the vote of confidence i put in you, so i want you to transfer the funds..."
ReplyDeleteScammers are just as slimey as slimey can be.
Great information. I am just having correspondence with him now. I have decided to pull the dirty on him and scam him back now so going to play along with him and wheedle a bit more info out of them to post on here. If we are going to stop these people we need to find out a bit more about them without compromising our selves.
ReplyDeleteMight even and try and phone them using Skype.
Regards
These are all entertaining ideas, but you can be sure they have been at this awhile and know how to obtain disposable email addresses, fake mailing addresses (which they really don't need except to fake out the victim, because the meat of the scam is the victim forwarding their own good money to a shipper that doesn't exist via Western Union), and I'm sure disposable skype accounts. This seems to be the only scammer I've heard of so far doing the skype angle. But I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be doing anything that would allow themselves to be tracked very easily. Like cockroaches, that's how they've managed to survive for so long...
ReplyDeleteThe only entertaining thing I've done several times is to get them to mail the check and say it has to be overnight (so they spend a little money) and then days later I've conveniently lost the check and need another one - overnight again of course... just so I can get them to spend a little money. One scammer went 4 rounds of checks with me (and that last round needed a nice long story - just like they do when they are in the final stages of a scam) and then he gave up. It wasn't much but was temporarily satisfying.
Just been down the same road with Richard Morriss!!, identical emails, card worked ok, about to send off the shipping money thankfully my wife spotted all this information,he even called back three or four times, " I am a christian with good faith and would not take your hard earned money, I just want to do some business, the post on the internet must be an other Richard Morriss!!",
ReplyDeleteI directed him to Facebook and this site, " are you the real MR R M" no that must be some one who is using my name.
Hi, no this is not a scam!! It's the real thing send me your bank details and I will deposit $10000000000000.000 into your account, sorry it's not funny is it, had an email from Richard Morriss or is it Morris!! Had two scams last week and another one this week, the last one was going to make me a million.
ReplyDeleteIs he still at it in your world?
How is business?
Kind regards Chris
He's still at it

I got this one via the website etsy,I didnt fall for it, I didnt trust him from email 1 because something was fishy about it, basically the rule is with this one, never let someone you dont know arrange the courier.
ReplyDeleteEMAIL 1"Hello, I'm interested in immediate purchase of your item, what is the present condition? Do you accept paypal as mode of payment? kindly reply back to my direct email coateand@yahoo.com for a quick respond or get back to me with your own email to reach you direct."
EMAIL 2 "Thanks for mailing back, how much is the final asking price, i'm an honest and straight person and always want to be treat the same way, are you sure of the item condition? this is only what can make me to be worry, cause I will not be able to come over and look at it, i am an oceanographer and i am buying this item for my Son in oversea, i am at sea right now,and I can only pay through Paypal and you can put the Paypal charges on me because as at present, i don't have access to my bank account online, but i have it attached to my Paypal account, and this is why am using Paypal to pay, all you will need to do is to send me money request from your paypal account in order for me to proceed with the payment, i have a pick up agent that will come for the pick up, after payments has been sorted and will also handle the paper works. Where is the exact location for the pick up? So that I can contact the pick up agent with your location to know how much it will cost me for the pick up, the pick up agent still have some
other stuffs to pick up for me, I will be looking forward to hear back from you ASAP."
EMAIL 3 "I was about to make the payments when i had this little problem with the pick up agent, i tried to book pick up with my pick up agent when i got the money request from you, but they asked me to pay first before they can make the paper work, and they only accept Western Union Money Transfer for payments, they dont accept paypal as well and I tried to send the money online but i couldn't make it through and I am on sea and there is no way i can find a western union agent to make the transfer to the pick up agent, so i wanted to add my pick up agent's fees in the payments I am about to send to you through paypal, my pick up agent charged £235 for the painting and the other items they are picking up for me in the same location plus insurance and all of that, please can i include their money in the payments I want to send? then after i have made the payments you will help me forward the money to my pick up agent through western union money transfer , I would have done this myself not to bother you, but for the fact I am currently on sea, so after I have made the payments you will help me send £235 to the pick up agent through western union money transfer, I just wanted to seek your consent before going ahead with the payments,I will more than appreciate if you mail me back ASAP, I will include western union charges to the payment as well, sorry for any inconveniences and I will be making the payments to you shortly."
Makes me so angry. Hope this is useful for others.

I think the giveaway for artists is the placing of order for stock. Not sure how you view your own work, but I don't think of mine as 'stock'.
ReplyDeleteI do know of people who have sent work to galleries in the USA never to hear from them again. Always worth checking out before you do and tryng to build a relationship with anywhere that handles your work.
Just Had the same email - beware everyone - don't get drawn in.
ReplyDeleteGary
Has anyone ever taken his money successfully?
ReplyDeleteThere is no real money from him to take. Their end of the scam is ALWAYS fake - either a fake check or a stolen credit card number that has not yet been reported as stolen.
ReplyDeleteSo the answer is a definite no. They are not spending any of their real money and trying to get you to forward your real money to some fake shipper via Western Union. That's how the scam operates.
I got the same thing for my business.

..."waiting for your swift response"...
ReplyDeleteright.
I bet you are.
but not this time, Mr Fake Richard Moriss (spelled incorrectly)
I am so glad i found this! our company received one today from richard morris> oct 5, 2011. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHad that and similar mails from all over the world in the last 2 years but some are getting clever. One from Indonesia sent us card details. We got authorisation from VISA for £2,000.00, All looked in order. Two months later VISA took back the £2,000.00 as the card detailed belonged to a Canadian..! Big loss as we also lost the goods which we still had to pay for. Be very careful. I now send a reply with a simple picture of a Voodoo retribution mask which I found on the Internet. I bet that gives the thieves a few sleepless nights and a change of direction lol.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is how they run the scam now. They realized they were actually losing money on the postage to send a fraudulent check and this way, they use a stolen credit card and not spend any money at all. Their sweet spot are stolen numbers not yet reported so they do clear when you run them. I'm so sorry you lost money but now it is a crime (because there is now financial loss) so you can report it. Check my links in the upper right-hand corner for the FBI.
ReplyDeleteSome artists say they avoid this by saying they will only ship to the address on the card but the scammer will have some convoluted story about moving from one place to another.
I think it is a safer bet to NEVER ever NEVER never agree to have a client overpay and ask you to forward money (always it will eventually be via Western Union). Never agree to their third-party shipper (which doesn't exist anyway). These are the two critical parts of the scam as how they make their money.
And always, I'm working to educate people to google various parts of the email (not just names and email addresses which they keep changing and making up) but the name of the shipping company, the address, scam and Indonesia might have even worked in your case. And we'll just keep posting these publicly and hoping to save more and more people from becoming victims.
Again, so sorry for your loss. It is why I started this blog. I can't stand that they get away with this and the authorities feel its all under the radar too much to care about it. But it's not a small deal for those who become victims, as you can attest to.
Hi, I've just had the same set of emails over the last week or so, from Richard Moriss in Cyprus.
ReplyDeleteI've kept him going though, to the point where he's given me all the card details / address info, etc. and I've rang the USAA bank where the card was registered, and reported it to them. They've put a block on the card now. It's not much but at least it's something.
The Shipping Agent info he gave me was: Receivers Name: Belva Parker
Receivers Address: 121 Pleasant Court
City:Rocky Mount
State:North Carolina
Zip Code:27804
Country: USA
hey, also just recieved same email; I recieve so many throughout the week. From dying cancer patience and priests and goverment officials and Richard Morrrriiisss. I think I'll just pull his chain for a while - sell more things and etc.Just for fun!! What do you think??
ReplyDeleteIt's always entertaining to get them to overnight a check and spend the money to do that, but most of the scammers are hip now to this little reverse-scam and they will insist on paying using a credit card (which will be a stolen number not yet reported), but occasionally you'll get a desperate scammer and if you say, they have a deal if they mail a check overnight, you'll get a little sense of satisfaction that at least they spent a little of their money. It's not like the check will be real anyway.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, there is not much to do get satisfaction, they are playing a numbers game and have sent out hundreds of thousands of emails at a time and will quickly move on to the next potential victim as soon as they figure out you are not going to fall victim to them.
I have been receiving emails from said Mr Morrisss, feeling stupid now thinking he wanted to purchase items. He contacted me via my online store.
ReplyDeleteOctober 31st 2011
Have received Richard Morriss email today too, same text as much of the above. Same reply (with apologies for late reply!!). What a shame, nice order!! Just felt odd, so googled and ended up here. Many thanks for all the comments. Will get back to my real customers!
ReplyDeleteExcellent. You did exactly what we hope more people will learn to do - something doesn't feel right and you google it and hopefully something verifying it is a scam has already been posted online... or enough similar ones to help people understand it is not for real and do not send any money via western union to some non-existent third-party shipping company or other such story.
ReplyDeleteme too! they just inquired about placing an order, but now sure how they are scamming me yet? i haven't shipped anything!
ReplyDeleteYou can read through the comments here, where I describe how the scam works. Glad to hear you stopped the process.
ReplyDeletehi,
ReplyDeletewe are based in the UK.

what a waste of time he is.
thanks for this blog, was great to be reassured it was a scam, and not a massive order i was losing out on!!!!
thanks again
Isabella
Glad to hear we kept another scammer from getting someone's money. If you only wasted time, be thankful.

Hiya. It appears that he no longer puts his name on the scams and a different address. Surely asking to purchase items without knowing the website and/or what we stock is extremely fishy? This is the email I recieved this morning:
ReplyDeleteHello,

Let me know the types of Credit Card you process for payment {Visa / MC etc}. Attach price list and website.

ReplyDeleteThanks for writing in!

Given address: Company Name: iRay Store, 438 Socrates Str.,Palouriotissa,1040 Nicosia,Cyprus.
He mailed our company in the Netherlands as explained on this website.
We found his methods strange and tried to find his company on the web and found this website.
We're happy not having done business with him yet and will definitively not trap is his scam.
Thank you.
Same thing just happened for us....guess this is what you have to look out for. Our stores are in nova Scotia Canada, so shipping a Sofa to Cyprus seemed a bit off! Below is what he/she tried with us.

We have been contacted by this "Bobby Churchland" scammer bchresources@gmail.com who is now claiming to be in Greece
ReplyDeleteCompany Name: MERCHANT INTERNATIONAL PTY LTD 75, Konstantinoupoleos St.
Thessaloniki , Greece 54076
Thank goodness I found this site. He sent exactly the same emails as received above, same wording wanting to buy some of my company's products
Richard morris has a new Email address its Morrisrichard376@yahoo.com and his contact number is 929-268-0716
ReplyDeleteA new name he is using now is Jonah Biggs. The rest of the email is pretty identical to the others with the Cyprus address.
ReplyDeleteSeconding the Jonah Biggs. jonah_biggs@yahoo.com.
ReplyDeleteHis first request was not unlike some international requests we've received to purchase our publications (our e-commerce does not ship internationally.) But, then he requested several thousand dollars worth of merchandise and multiple quantities of items that are listed as one of a kind. So, we looked it up.
A New name would appear to be Jonathan Smith of Pallest Inc in Cambodia. I have received e mails from Richard Morris over 2 years ago but this one from Jonathan Smith came only this week. It is identical to the ones from Morris 2 years ago.
ReplyDeleteWe have just been sent an order in the same format from Jonathan Smith of Pallest Inc Cambodia too. A quick search of him led me here - the email address he is using is jonathan1033@aol.com
ReplyDeleteJust received an order from Jonathan_smith602@aol.com. Same MO. Obviously a fake with the poor grammar
ReplyDeleteI received a request for my artwork last week from a 'Rebecca Shawn'. She wanted to know which of my work are available for sale, if I can ship internationally, and if I am able to process Visa and MC electronically/with expiry date and CV number. She looks forward to 'reading' from me. It all sounded fishy to me so I asked where she wants it shipped to: Cyprus. I personally wouldn't trust any business dealings with Cyprus. The email it was sent from was: priscilliamorgan1@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI have also received several emails from "Rebecca Shawn"- she was interested in five paintings, settled on two mid priced ones@ $1200 each- She had a song and dance about not using Paypal or
ReplyDeleteand FedEX or UPS or USPS and wanted to use "Large Packet Service"
I'm in Canada and the international parcel post rates ranged from $133 CDN
through 250.84, and 421.26- FedEX at 807.33, UPS at $871.58- $928.
Her courier "Large Packet Service" is a residence in East London UK- They registered there URL 3 weeks ago according to whois.com-
She is in Cyprus- They wanted 1225.58 Pound Sterling or $2248.03 CND-
almost the cost of the paintings- That seemed very fishy to me.
Thanks all for this post. My GF was recently contacted on an interest in purchasing her art. I just informed my GF on this scam and found Rebecca Shawn, from Cyprus, with "Large Packet Company " included.
ReplyDeleteSam
This time is not Mr Morris but Anita Rose, anitarose400@gmail.com and here i post the last email, so please be aware! ( I hope this helps other artists :-) and thanks for this blog :-) :
ReplyDelete"Thanks for your swift response,am satisfied with the cost of the artwork and i
want you to packed it in a very good boxes,so i can proceed with the payment.
On the shipping i will have to pay additional fee at the delivery
point here in Cyprus because they will never bring to ones
house. courier like Fedex, UPS are not worth it here especially USPS
all of them are not rendering good service here probably because they
already known very well.
You can contact this courier www.skyhoodglobal.com
(skyhoodglobal@deliveryman.com) as well with the weight and cost
of the artwork for the shipping and insurance to my address because
they ship and deliver safely without one paying any other money before
collecting the goods unlike some other courier where it will not be
delivered to your address rather you will have to go to their office
to pick it up and when you get there you will be told to pay other
money before collecting it.
I will be looking forward to hearing from you asap so that i can make
the overall payment at once.
Thanks

I just received an inquiry from anitarose400@gmail.com as well. Asking for information that is all readily available on my website.
ReplyDeleteI have been corresponding from a guy named Josh Harvey, email address is joshharvey2@aol.com. He also used a.miller@agora.it. He says all the same things that everyone above says. The company name he uses is Pallest Inc in Cambodia. The address is #228, Sisowath Boulevard, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Don't trust 'em!
ReplyDeleteFrom martinrode21@gmail.com add him to the list!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHELLO,

Another one: From jackhorde7@gmail.com July 13, 2015
ReplyDeleteHello ,
I'm Jack Horde, Respectively I have some interest in your products,Inwhich I would prefer to ask you directly if ship to Cyprus and accept Visa & MC as payment.
Let me know if you ship to the above destination and also if you accept the payment terms as indicated above.
I would be most appreciated if you return this email with your website and some current product price list.
Best Regards
Jack Horde
Just had the exact same email, Jack Horde.
ReplyDeleteHow stupid are these people?
Ignored and pushed to JUNK
Also the same email from a Jack Horde! Also going to ignore and JUNK
ReplyDeleteI've had the same email today from Jack Horde- will ignore - thank you everyone for sharing, its saved me from being taken in by these con artists. Who are these people!?
ReplyDeleteAnother Jack Horde email scam mail received here. Thank goodness our IT guy found your site. We could have had an expensive mistake.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for spotting the toe rag!
We also just received a similar email from Jack Horde! Ridiculous.
ReplyDeletereply from Jack Horde
ReplyDeleteI hope this finds you well? Thanks for the total quote of my order. The total cost of my order is quite correct and I'm ready to progress with pay the payment. I shall inform my freight forwarder who will be coming to pick up the order to hold on and come immediately you have inform me that the items are ready for pick up then I can give you a call on that day to get the items packed for pick up and they will call you on their arrival at your address. Also I want you to help me charge another £750 from my credit card for the freight forwarder who will be coming to pick up my ordered items from you, Since they ship at a lesser price than any other courier and they are so effective in shipping my goods to me here in the remote area in (Cyprus) is estimated to be 2-3days. I have used their service in the past and it was splendid and cost effective, Their delivery is always within 72 working hours with a secure, safe & reliable service they also collaboration with leading air express companies.
The £750 that will be sent to the freight forwarder is for the shipping of my order and should be deducted from my credit card. Also, I'm compensating you with the sum of ( £100 ) for the transfer fee and for your efforts. Please note that I should have given the shipping agency my credit card for him to deduct the freight charges but he told me that he doesn't have the facilities to charge or debit credit card , so that's why I bring my vote of confidence in you which I want you to aid me in this measure, So i want you to transfer the funds to him after you have make the charges and the money charged from my credit card is in your account, Then you can now make the transfer to the agent via Western Union or you can send money through Money Gram..I will have love to do this my self but there are no western union here around me as I am out of town to monitor my estate construction at a remote village,So the charges you'll make on my credit card will be:
Order Fee:- £1,137.50
Agent fee:- £750
Transfer fee:- £100
Total to Charge :- £1987.50
The shipping cost include:
Collection from your Yard
Customs clearance
Duties & taxes
Inland transit to final destination.
Insurance
Note that my credit card will be charged for the amounts above. Please do get back to me if you are in the office right now so that i can forward my credit card details to you, then you can charge the funds,
Warm Regards,
Jack
Just received an email from a 'Jack Horde' regarding a shipping of beauty creams & skin care products from us (a value of £950). Again, he stated - in very poor English/grammar (which surprised me with such a 'British' name!) - that he was wary of reputable couriers, like FEDEX, UPS etc... and that he'd arrange his own courier. What a con merchant! Credit card fraud is rife! thankfully this site, and the foresight to google him, has brought all this to light. The last thing anyone wants is to be implicated in this kind of activity. What's with some people!
