It's hitting Craigslist in San Antonio. I just received the same message, word for word, concerning an item I have for sale, from David at eryben4@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI just got that exact same email, I was selling an Acura TSX wheel on craigslist and the fact he never had any questions on the wheel itself is a dead give away that it is not legit.. So I then searched his name and scam, found numerous hits.
ReplyDeleteJust got it in Cleveland Ohio.... was too formal so I did a search and found this.....
ReplyDeleteI just got it in Delmar, NY. As well as being a bit formal, I was put off by the fact that I had already dropped the price on Craigslist and this John Alex didn't even go for the much lower price, but agreed to my first higher price!!!!! Also, the emails were all different names/IDs was suspicious.
ReplyDeleteAlso got it in Rochester, NY for a garden tractor. This person will "buy" anything.
ReplyDeleteAny word on Dan glaxo056?
ReplyDeleteHello Seller,
Good day to you am very interested in your good and i want to know the state and condition of it and the last price it is going for.....Hope to hear from you soon.
Regards.
glaxo056@gmail.com
You can the Dan email is a scammer by the content. Poor sentence structure. "Interested in your good".
ReplyDeleteThese are feeler emails so the scammer doesn't have to spend time with everyone, but just those that reply to the email. Then they will go into their longer story. It will always end up involving overpaying for an item or items and asking the overpayment be sent somewhere (to a shipper or back to them) via wire transfer.
Just never accept an overpayment (which will be fraudulent anyway) or use wire transfers for anything. Then you'll at least be safe from this particular scam.
I was hit today in Chicago, IL. It was to formal so I also google the name and found it was a scam. I'm glad I found this site before answering email.

ReplyDeleteI told him 5k for like a 60 dollar item when I got that email.
ReplyDeleteI received the same email form two different people one was (marcus benson <marcusbenson008@gmail.com) and the other was from a James Wood. I am trying to sell two different items on Craigslist in NH. So if anyone does get a check from them you can go online to find out if the check is real/ good before you cash it.
