I received this email from an artist this morning. The content of the email is the classic "opening" email we see from scammers. They are just trying to get people to respond before they give more details of the scam.

Here is a scammer targeting artists that use Artfire. Not sure where they got that fake name of 'Nimota'.

think this is a new one...I received this message this morning via my Artfire store front.

I received this email last week and responded briefly to determine if he had any clue I am in Australia.  I too have that whole "too good to be true" vibe and this isn't the first time I've received one of these emails - both were people at sea, both wanted to make PayPal payments and both had an agent who would pick up "the item".  Thank you for your blog, I wasn't sure how they were making the scam work with PayPal but you have cleared it up for me.  I hope you can add this scumbag to your list!!

You don't need to have an account,swift codes or any bank codes but you  will have to pay western union fees which you can deduct from the difference. It is usually a meagre amount. After the transfer, you will need to get back  with the following information.

1.  Name and address of sender.
2.  Total Amount sent after deducting transfer charges.
3.  Money Transfer Control Number ( MTCN number ).

Although the artist didn't forward me the original scam communication from "Mrs. Gretta White", here is the followup scam email (which is also sent by the scammer), made to look like there is a legitimate shipping company behind this, but there is not. Mrs Gretta White doesn't exist and neither does Bill Carter or Pack N Box Movers and Logistics  LTD, which we've reported on in many other scam emails.

Scammers will post their scam "pitch" anywhere. Here is one forwarded from an artist where the scammer put their pitch in the comments area of the artist's blog.
