This scammer is the same one who just sent out the same scam under the fake name of Andrew Roundy. He is sending from a compromised server so I guess he's going to send a bunch of them out until the owners of the server at gnax.net realize their servers are compromised.

used Bax Global for shipping: had our company paying his shipping Company. with Western Union: then came back
a month later with a CHARGE BACK. THIS TIED UP
OUR CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT FOR 6 MONTHS. if you
do business make him sign a sale form and fax it back to you: also ask for a ID.
There's a way to stick it to these thieves. When they give you the credit card, report it as stolen, killing the card. Only tell the scammer that the card was declined. They fully expect the stolen credit card to be killed at some point, so they will offer another stolen card. Repeat until they run out of cards or run out of interest. You can ignore them if you want, but if you just keep killing their cards and pretending everything is okay, they'll go away and be discouraged that the scam isn't working and they just lost a bunch of stolen credit cards they paid real money for!

1. NEVER educate the scammer. You don't want them to be a better scammer.
2. NEVER let them know that you know they are a scammer. They'll continute to be nice to you if they think there's a chance they might still scam you.
3. NEVER wire money to anyone, even relatives or friends. Some scams involve someone pretending to be a friend or relative stuck in a foreign country and needing cash wired to them.

...I looked up the address, and so called Company and it was non existent. My Items are valued at Over $600.00 I was instantly suspicious. I told the "Customer" that I have placed a Reserve/Hold on the above items, and actually did so Just in case they go and check. They, in return asked if these items are ready to ship.
....My question is: What do I do from this point? Do I keep playing along? Or, do I ignore any further messages from this "person"?...And how do I Report it?
You can do one of two things: 1. ignore any further communication and just treat it the same as spam, or 2. Follow along and insist the payment be sent via check overnight express. They will have to cough up the money to do that. *then* ignore any further communication and either rip the check up (it's fraudulent anyway) or submit it to your local bank and ask if they do anything with fraudulent checks.
ReplyDeleteWhen they offer to pay via credit card (which WILL be a stolen number, possibly not reported as stolen yet), they are saving themselves that hard cash they used to spend to mail a check. You can make them spend a little money or just stop the whole game and ignore them. No need to even tell them you know. They know they are playing a numbers game and will just move on to the next potential victim.

As the companies are made up, it's not important to determine if it's the same company. But I can tell from the content of the email that it is a classic scam email and we've seen this text over and over again.
ReplyDeleteDo not go any further. No need to even tell them. The names and the places are all made up. Just immediately stop replying to them and delete any further emails you receive from them.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have received the same exact emails from this jerk wanting to purchase our hand made fishing lures! He made sure he sent item numbers that added up to over $1800 worth! Since I had never heard of his "preferred" shipping provider I immediately became suspicious and even more suspicious when I told him his payment would have to go through Paypal and he came up with an excuse that Paypal had overcharged him and tied up HIS money for two months, so he preferred not to use that service.

ReplyDeleteI had a scam from a woman who said she was moving to Africa. Then she said she was temporarily in Eng. She eventually sent me 2 checks for way over the amount and wanted me to let her shipper pick up the art. I told her nothing left my shop until I had the cash in hand. Then I took both checks to my bank and they called the sources of the checks (the banks) and one had a closed account and one check had been sent out form that source many times. I turned them both over to my bank's fraud dept. These checks were from CA and IL. Good luck......story became more & more absurd!

I informed 'her' that I accept credit card payment ONLY via paypal, and ship to a confirmed address only (standard email I send to those I suspect are scammers). Once again, 'she' doesn't want to use paypal since she was overcharged last time. Sure. Keep trying :)

Of course they just open up again using another"real person's name" ....again stolen! A person on LinkedIn asked how to get her name cleared as a scammer was using her name & sending out art scams. The real person is worried this could damage her reputation. What is the answer to all this?
ReplyDeleteThere is no way. You are right - the closest they can do is get the email account shut down, but scammers will just open up another one.
ReplyDeleteScammers both randomize fake names and grab the names of real people. It is not unusual. Because it is so common, I don't see how it can ruin her reputation, but basically all I can think is she will have to chase this scammer around and constantly get their email account shut down until the scammer (who likes to stay in the shadows) moves on to another fake name that is getting them less attention.
I got the same email through my photo gallery. My gallery has a shopping cart and a provider that handles payment, printing and shipping. If they were legit, they could have clicked the shopping cart to get all the info they needed. They are just another low-life scammer.

DeleteI had a feeling its a scam so thats how I found this blog. She ordered 15,000 usd wurth of jewelry from me. Unbelievable.I will do what another person said much earlier and that is, play along, get a credit card number, report it as stolen and so killling the card. Then I will tell them the card was declined and if they have another one and so on trying to kill as many cards as posssible.
It is jewelry in this case but $15,000 worth of goods is an unusually high amount for scammer to present in the first part of their scam process. That amount of loss plus the $1500-$3000 "overage" they try to get in cash (they could care less about the product and never provide a valid shipping address), that would get them close to a range where authorities would want to pursue it. Though there is often that problem of jurisdiction and that protects them somewhat too.

ReplyDeleteMy first instinct that "Laura Colman" was a SCAM is that her e-mail address was spelled wrong: Laura Colman [luaracolmanfir@gmail.com] - "She" sent the same details as mentioned above (different shipper: E. LOGISTIC LIMITED).
I asked if she was trying to place a store or a personal order with no response (duh) and told her I accept credit cards because she offered the same Pay Pal sob story.
What COMPLETELY solidified my SCAM suspicions is that she ordered 72 items to be delivered ASAP. (In every e-mail "she" insisted ASAP!) I am a professional jewelry artist who handworks each piece. Art jewelry is rarely sold in this quantity, which also made me curious. Another red flag was the fact that "she" never asked prices. Not once. What buyer doesn't ask prices before placing an order?
I am SO glad that this webpage exists but I'm sorry that there are scum out there preying on business owners. I was going to write back saying that I know it's a scam but I'll just delete the e-mails and send out word through social media so that none of my friends are duped.

I am the webmaster for a bookstore who received the same email as others have mentioned here with the name Tracie Rogweb tracieron@gmail.com once we requested verification of who this person was she crawled back into her scum scam hole. In addition to the telltale signs mentioned above she order 2 dozen of every book we have on the home page, a bit odd when they carry many other than whats on the home page. I tell all my personal clients to check and re-check orders, if it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, it must be a duck. Do not ignore that little voice that says somethings not right.

I was almost going to send a guy by the named (brown nelson ) 500.00 he lost his wallet and credit cards. He's very romantic beware ladies he's fake don't send money. When he ask me I said no he got very mean then said o I really love you so much why cause he wants the money. I blocked him fast he ain't scamming me. He also uses brown nelson mills pretendd to have a son. He says he's from Austin, texas. But he's I'm lagos Nigeria working constuction. He needed money for food and to come home. Please don't believe him.
